AC Repair in Griffin, GA

AC out in Griffin? Spalding County sits about 25 minutes south of our Stockbridge base toward I-75 — close enough that a July failure is an ordinary call, not a special trip.

AC repair in Spalding humidity

Griffin’s housing stock is older than the south-Henry subdivisions, and Georgia humidity is not kind to it. Condensate lines clog, coils load up with pollen and cottonwood, and a unit that “still blows” can be moving air that is barely cooler than the porch. Older homes also mean longer duct runs and outdoor units that have sat in full sun for a decade or more — all of which age a system faster than the brochure ever admitted.

The job is still the same one we do next door to the shop: find the actual fault before anybody talks replacement. A capacitor, a contactor, a low charge, a float switch on a blocked drain. Most of those are a repair. Some of them are the last repair a tired compressor will take. You get told which.

Being 25 minutes up the road also means we can come back if the fault is intermittent — the unit that dies at four in the afternoon and behaves at nine the next morning. A shop that has to price a long round trip into every visit has every incentive to guess. From Stockbridge, Griffin is not that kind of trip.

Worth a call if any of this sounds familiar

  • The vents are blowing, but the air isn’t cold
  • The outdoor unit hums and the fan won’t turn
  • Ice on the copper line where it meets the air handler
  • The breaker trips every time the compressor kicks on
  • Water standing around the indoor unit
  • It runs all afternoon and never reaches the thermostat setting

McGrath Mechanical is my go to choice for HVAC repairs and installation. As a property manager of properties all over the Atlanta area, I need a reliable HVAC source that will show up, diagnose the problem correctly, tell me the truth and make the repair at a reasonable cost. McGrath does exactly that! New system installations are efficient and affordable as well. I highly recommend James at McGrath Mechanical!

If he says he will be there then he will. James is fast, reliable, and gets the job done. I thought I needed a new unit but that wasn’t the problem. After about 30 minutes he had us up and running again. Any questions I had he was able to give me an answer. Highly recommend
